Chisel is built around your workouts on your own iPhone. No account, advertising, or subscriptions. Sharing limited usage information to help improve the app is your choice.

Your workouts stay on your device
Chisel stores your workout plans, sets, exercise customizations, completed sessions and preferences locally. Your weights, repetitions, timed-set values and saved workout history are not uploaded to a developer-operated workout server. There is no app account, app-provided cloud synchronization, or cloud backup service.
Apple controls device backups and restoration through your device settings. The guided tour and empty-history screens use labeled sample data; those samples do not become your saved workouts.
Optional usage sharing
Usage sharing starts off. If you turn it on in Settings, Chisel uses PostHog Cloud in the United States to understand which features people use and where the app can be improved.
Shared events can include screens and controls used, built-in exercise and muscle-group selections, bounded activity counts and timing, technical success or failure states, and app version and platform. A randomly generated installation identifier and analytics-only event and flow identifiers help connect those interactions. These identifiers are not your name or an advertising identifier.
Usage events do not include weights, repetitions, hold measurements, strength scores, historical workout dates, custom exercise names or identifiers, search or other free text, imported CSV contents, Health data, or your saved workout records. Chisel does not use advertising tracking, session recording, or automatic screen capture. Network requests necessarily reach service providers; Chisel’s analytics configuration disables IP storage and location enrichment in the analytics records.
We use this information for product analytics, not advertising or tracking across other companies’ apps and websites. Read PostHog’s privacy policy for the provider’s practices.
Your choices and retention
You can turn usage sharing off in Settings at any time. This stops new analytics delivery and removes unsent events and the installation identifier from the app. Turning it off does not automatically erase events already received by the analytics service. We limit access to those records and use a PostHog plan with a one-year (365-day) data-retention period. Contact us with a privacy request or a question about information already shared.
Your local workouts remain on your device until removed. Archiving a workout hides it from current summaries but does not permanently erase it. Removing the app removes its local app data from that device, subject to Apple’s backup and restore behavior. Please do not delete the app as a troubleshooting step if you want to keep that history.
Apple Health and purchases
The first version of Chisel does not connect to Apple Health or Apple Watch. Chisel is free and has no subscriptions, in-app purchases, or payment information collection.
This website
Cloudflare hosts this website and processes technical request information, such as network addresses and request details, to deliver and protect it. This site has no newsletter form, advertising pixels, or website analytics SDK. Its interactive examples stay in page memory and do not save or send a workout.
